Sheriff Christy Barnes was appointed as the Harrison County Sheriff and sworn into office on January 1, 2026, due to the early retirement of her predecessor Sheriff Shain Stephens. Sheriff Barnes has been with the Harrison County Sheriff's Office for 22 years. Christy and husband Chris have three children Landon, Kyle, and Avery and three grandchildren Levi, Falynn, and Owen. She enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, doing anything outdoors, reading, and yoga outside of work. Christy comes from a very large family and is a lifelong resident of Harrison County.
