Requirements for a Kentucky Notary Public:

Notary public commissions are valid for four years. The following requirements must be met:

1. Applicant must be eighteen (18) years old or older
2. Resident of Harrison County or employed in Harrison County
3. Good moral character
4. Capable of discharging duties imposed by law
5. Cannot be a convicted felon
|
The Applicant must complete the application for Appointment to the Office of Notary Public Form. The form may picked up at the County Clerk's Office or can be downloaded from the Secretary of State website (www.sos.ky.gov). The completed application must be mailed to:

A $10.00 state fee must accompany the application.
If approved, the applicant must come to the County Clerk's office to take the oath of office and post bond. In Harrison County the amount of the bond is $1,000. The bond has to be issued by an insurance company.
The recording fee for your Notary in the Clerk's Office is $19.00.
