Legal Records & Genealogy |
The Legal Records Department is responsible for legal documents which are filed as public record. Harrison County was formed in 1793. Our earliest documents date back to 1794. Automated document indexes are available for most document types back to 1985.
Legal recordings are available for public viewing at our office located at 111 S. Main Street, Suite 102. Copies are 25 cents per page. Certified copies are a minimum of $5.
We do not perform title searches. We do not fax copies of documents. Records are open to the public and we may direct you in searching the computer data base and index books.
The most frequently filed documents include: deeds, name changes, mechanic liens, Mortgages, powers of attorney, wills, corporations, tax liens, military discharges, assignments, releases, notary bonds, marriages and delinquent taxes.
