These extraditions take place from areas all over the United States . Prisoners can be transported by car or commercial airliner with travel expenses recovered from the state or in some cases by the prisoner themselves through court ordered restitution.

The Sheriff's Office is also responsible for the transportation of any prisoner remanded to the Kentucky Department of Corrections.
